In a surprising twist, Love Island All Stars has bid farewell to one of its contestants, Jake Cornish, who decided to leave the show just a few days after stepping into the villa for the new series on ITV. Jake, who first graced the Love Island scene in 2021, made the tough decision to exit after being unexpectedly paired with his former flame, Liberty Poole, during the series launch.
The confirmation of Jake's departure came at the end of Tuesday's episode, with the voice of Love Island, Iain Stirling, hinting at the upcoming drama. Stirling teased, "Tomorrow night. It's getting steamy in paradise and someone can't take the heat." A subsequent clip showcased Jake gathering the islanders around the firepit, declaring, "I'm going tonight."
The All Stars edition featured 12 returning Islanders, including Jake and Liberty, all seeking a second shot at love in the South African villa. Liberty, anticipating the potential awkwardness of encountering her ex again, had already expressed reservations about rekindling any romance.
Jake and Liberty were previously coupled up during series seven but decided to end their relationship just before the final, leaving the villa prematurely. Unaware of each other's presence due to the contestants being kept away from social media, the former couple was reunited during Monday's episode.
When it was revealed that the public had chosen Jake to couple up with Liberty, host Maya Jama questioned his feelings about the decision. Jake responded, "I don't hate the girl," emphasizing that there was no lingering animosity and acknowledging the need for a conversation.
In another unexpected turn of events during the episode, Callum Jones, a surprise islander, chose to couple up with his ex, Molly Smith, who entered the villa after him. Host Maya Jama presented Callum with the option to partner with Molly or steal any of the girls from existing couples, and he opted for a reunion with Molly, whom he had met during series six.
The public's choices for couplings so far include Anton Danyluk with Hannah Elizabeth, Chris Taylor with Demi Jones, Luis Morrison with Georgia Harrison, Mitchel Taylor with Kaz Kamwi, and Toby Aromolaran with his former flame Georgia Steel, from the previous Love Island Games series.
Love Island: All Stars continues to unfold its drama at 9 pm on ITV1, ITV2, ITVX, and STV.
